Leigh Berman

Owner/Trainer

Leigh started her career as an amateur owner. Winning many awards with her horse Catch 22. She even ended up on the cover of Practical Horseman magazine with an article raving about what Leigh was able to make out of a horse that came from New Holland Horse Auction. After going pro, Leigh spent many years showing and training at top ranked horse shows in the hunters and jumpers. She has brought kids/adults from beginners to winning in the JR Hunters or the Amateur Owners. She is very talented in breaking young or problem horses and has recently been importing unbroken horses from overseas and is developing them into well-rounded show horses, currently showing multiple of them in USEF recognized divisions and enjoys showing them in derbies when she has the chance.

Maria Metz

Maria is our assistant trainer. She has been riding since the age of 8 and quickly fell in love with the sport as her passion for horses has turned into a lifestyle. Previously, Maria served as Director of Horsemanship at Valley Forge Military Academy & College in Wayne, PA. During this time, Maria was the Head Coach for Valley Forge’s IHSA and IEA teams, and was honored to train the first Valley Forge Cadet to compete at IHSA Nationals. Additionally, Maria is proud to be a graduate of the US Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Trainer Certification Program. In her free time, Maria still teaches and rides professionally, and serves as the Equestrian Coach for the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry (Pennsylvania Army National Guard) – the Nation’s oldest continuously-serving cavalry unit – and has supported their performance in events ranging from the Devon Horse Show and Radnor Hunt Races to military parades and Presidential Inaugurations. Maria is an active competitor, believes in a lifetime of continuous learning and improvement in the saddle, and has been enjoying showing her OTTB “Word on the Street” at USEF recognized shows and derbies. Outside the barn, Maria works in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry as a member of the team at Zoetis, the largest global animal health company.
